WHAT WE DO WITH YOUR DATA

We use your data to improve our service to customers, this is how;

OUR DATA PROTECTION PRINCIPLES

Under GDPR, all personal data collected and stored by us must be processed according to a set of core principles. Our principles are as follows:

  • All data collected will be adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary for the purposes of processing

  • We will only keep for longer than is necessary for its given purpose (please see retention section)

  • All collected data will be processed in a manner to ensure security of data including protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing, accidental loss, and destruction or damage by using appropriate technical or organisational measures

DATA SHARING AND PROVIDING YOUR DATA TO THIRD PARTIES

Sometimes it is necessary to provide our third party suppliers and partners with your data to carry out our service on your behalf.

We will provide your personal data to third parties when they need the data to perform particular functions in delivering our services to you or as part of our regulatory compliance (e.g. The Environment Agency or HMRC).

The data we provide to them is limited to what is necessary to complete the service (e.g. full address, contact details) and only when they have the necessary legal framework and contract in place to process personal data we provide, in the same way as we process it.

For customers who have accessed our services via The Compost Network, we may share your data with our partners at BioPak, and Reconomy, in order to fulfill your request. Our partners may reach out on behalf of The Compost Network with information or products you have expressed an interest in. 

Individuals have the following basic rights concerning data registered by The Compost Network - to:

  • access and read their data

  • have their data corrected or deleted

  • object to usage of their data

  • express any concern they have about our use of their data

The above rights are valid unless they conflict with laws or other legitimate use The Compost Network has for processing the personal data. 

DATA SECURITY

We will safeguard your personal data in a way that ensures appropriate security from unauthorised or unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction or damage.

We have put in place procedures to encrypt and safely store your data. We have procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach.

RETAINING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We will retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements (e.g. The Environment Agency or HMRC).

We may also retain your personal data for a reasonable period afterwards to allow us to respond to any follow up enquiries or complaints.

We carry out reviews of the information we store and will anonymise or delete the information as is appropriate following review.

We keep our privacy policy under regular review and we will place any updates in this document and web page.
